Re: The National Film Registry |
Well, I nominate "Duck and Cover." If that's not there, it definitely should be.
On a slightly related note, why doesn't the Archive have the Zapruder film and the film of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Collapse? Aren't those both open-source be now?

Re: The National Film Registry |
Zapruder film status information
webpage
Apparently it resides in the National Archives.
Short clips of the Tacoma bridge collapse are available online.

or

However I do not think it is in public domain as they credit the same source as below.

Re: The National Film Registry |
leecherzs link on the Zapruder film mentions the "Image of an Assassination: A New Look at the Zapruder Film" which is available on dvd. Check IMDB:
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0165324/It is a fascinating documentary on the restoration of the Zapruder film, shows for the first time the cropped part of the image between sprocket holes, and includes several slow motion, and image stabilized playbacks.

Re: The National Film Registry |
The Zapruder film is under copyright, and actively licensed by the 6th Floor Museum in Dallas, successors to the interest of the Zapruder family. You may find it elsewhere on the Net, however.

Re: The National Film Registry |
Well, I've never had any trouble FINDING the films; in fact, I have nice copies of both; I was just wondering why the Archive didn't. Thanks for the info.
